Seppeltsfield was established in 1851 in the Barossa and is one of the most historic wineries in Australia.

Seppeltsfield are committed to supporting regional initiatives, such as the annual Barossa Wine Show, this dates back to 1977. Barossa Australia bring together a strong panel of judges and this year, included 733 entries from across the region.

This year’s 2025 Barossa Wine Show awards were presented at a celebratory lunch held on Friday 12th September at the Seppeltsfield Estate, in the historic 1920 Vintage Cellar.

Fiona Donald, Chief Winemaker said:

“It is an honour, of course, for Seppeltsfield to take out the Best Wine of Show, for the 2024 Barossa Grenache.

Grenache is an important part of the history of Seppeltsfield and the Barossa. We are excited to see the versatility of Grenache – Tawny, Rose, GSM blend, Single Vineyard and in this instance, Joven style (sees no oak maturation).

The star is starting to well and truly shine at Seppeltsfield on the 174 Year Old Estate’s new chapter – the luxury collection of still wines, only possible since recently gaining full ownership of its trademark in 2017.

Here at Seppeltsfield, our winemaking philosophy reflects both our history and future endeavours. With our ambition to match our reputation for the fortified wine collection with the luxury still wine collection.

And an important part of this is proudly celebrating the re-imaging of traditional fortified varietals as luxury still wine expressions.

The 2025 Barossa Wine Show was our strongest performance yet and something our team are all extremely proud of!”

Seppeltsfield were recognised with four other trophies, including:

  • BEST Grenache – 2024 Barossa Grenache
  • BEST Red Wine – 2024 Barossa Grenache
  • BEST Red Wine – Other Blends: 2024 Barossa Touriga, Tinta Amarela
