The Village Collection showcases both classic and alternative grape varietals, each capturing the distinct character of its vineyard site and the nuances of the season.
Each wine is designed to be enjoyed in its youth, offering a contemporary, aromatic, and bright style.
The red varietals in this collection are made in a ‘joven’ style seeing no oak maturation, with the exception of our Shiraz, which sees moderate French oak influence to preserve the classic style of a Barossa shiraz.
The Bench Blends collection was inspired by the winemaking art of assemblage, to achieve a wine that is greater than the sum of its parts.
Each year, the final bottlings are determined not only by the season, but also the very best combination of red varietals to create both a traditional and contemporary style blend.
ESTATE ICON VINEYARD
The Great Terraced Vineyard, planted on the Estate hillside, consists of bush vine Grenache growing in clay loam with outcrops of ironstone, quartz, and bluestone. Originally planted in 1855, the vineyard was replanted in contoured rows in 1958 to follow the natural shape of the land, using meticulously selected original cuttings to ensure the highest quality.
Traditionally, the Grenache from The Great Terraced Vineyard was used entirely for fortified wine production, but today it is made into contemporary still wine expressions. Spanning over 250 acres, the vineyard is hand-pruned and hand-picked.
THE GROUNDS COLLECTION
The Grounds Collection is inspired by a study conducted by Barossa Australia, bringing together winemakers, grape growers and climatic science experts, to evaluate and identify the variations of Barossa Shiraz across all four points of the compass.
Our terminology – ‘Northing’, ‘Easting’, ‘Southing’, and ‘Westing’, is inspired by mapmaking, referring to the deviation or distance in the respective direction.
The Grounds Collection features single vineyard Shiraz from all four points of the compass, with each parcel being made in a consistent winemaking style. This approach allows the distinct characteristics of each vineyard site to shine through, making each wine utterly unique.
An unexpected journey across thousands of kilometres was the key to connect two powerhouses of the winemaking world – Seppeltsfield, Barossa Valley in South Australia and Huarpe Wines in Uco Valley, Argentina. Seppeltsfield Proprietor and Executive Chairman (W.R.) seized the chance to travel to Argentina and fell in love with Uco Valley region. With extraordinarily high standards borne from years of luxury winemaking experience at Seppeltsfield, the wine simply exceeded his expectations.
