As the 2025 Vintage draws to a close, we caught up with Chief Winemaker Fiona Donald and Group Viticulturist Kingsley Fuller, for a behind the scenes look at how the season unfolded across the Barossa.
This year’s growing season came with its fair share of challenges, shaped largely by dry conditions throughout. Budburst arrived on time, and the vines enjoyed a run of mild weather through spring and summer. But it was the lack of rainfall that had the biggest impact on how the season evolved.
Thankfully, those milder temperatures worked in our favour – helping to preserve natural acidity and bring out deep, vibrant colour in the red varieties, particularly Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. The dry conditions led to faster sugar and flavour development, which meant harvest started earlier than usual. Through careful vineyard management, fruit was picked in excellent condition, with a focus on hitting the right flavour ripeness.
Overall, despite the challenges, the vintage has delivered excellent quality across our entire collection – wines that are ready to be enjoyed now, with several that will reward time in the cellar.
Our very popular 2025 Barossa Grenache Rosé is already in bottle and showing lovely colour, flavour and freshness. Our white wines will be next, the Single Vineyard Riesling and Vermentino, they are just undergoing final preparation ahead of bottling.
