Please join me, Fiona Donald – the Chief Winemaker here at the Seppeltsfield Estate, to learn about the history of the Dining Hall.
When founder Joseph came to Australia, he paid for the passage of 13 other families to travel to a new life. Second generation Oscar Benno and Sophie Seppelt, who went on to live on the Seppeltsfield estate with their thirteen children, continued the strong Seppelt family relationship with their workers. This led to the building in 1890 of the Dining Hall, purposely built to feed the hundreds of workers at Seppeltsfield during the 19th Century.
Today the hospitable traditions of the Seppelt family continue, with the Dining Hall being used as a venue for Events – including tasting experiences, lunches and dinners.
I encourage you to refer to the map on this website for the route to continue to hear the Seppeltsfield Estate history. The location of the next podcast is the Seppelt Family Homestead.
