Seppeltsfield 2024 Vintage Report by Chief Winemaker, Fiona Donald
Vintage 2024 at Seppeltsfield in the Barossa presented ideal conditions for grape quality, starting with an early bud-burst and enjoying mild temperatures throughout spring and summer, coupled with a dry season that minimised disease pressure and allowed for optimal ripening.
The cool temperatures supported slow fruit development, preserving acidity and fragrance in whites and rosés, while enhancing colour and fruit intensity in reds. Despite the brief heat spikes in early March, careful management ensured grapes were harvested at peak ripeness.
Shiraz fermentations processed through our 1888 Gravity Cellar revealed deep complexity and vibrant colour with fine tannins, while Grenache, notably from the icon vineyard on the Estate – Great Terraced Vineyard, showcased bright aromatics and structured elegance in both rosé and dry red styles. The whites, marked by lively acidity, are progressing well and should be bottled in the near future.
Overall, the 2024 vintage yielded very good quality, promising exceptional maturation potential for these wines in the years to come.
