Seppeltsfield’s history with tonic wines originated in the 1800s, where spirit-strengthened ‘elixirs’ – often only prescribed by hospitals and pharmacists – promised to refresh, exhilarate, heal and nourish. Elixirs such Bitters, Vermouth and Brandy-based liqueurs were amongst the earliest of bottlings at Seppeltsfield, concocted by founder Joseph Seppelt. Medicinal Brandy made at Seppeltsfield was particularly regarded ‘colony-wide’ for its quality in the 1800s – the estate proudly promoting itself as the premier supplier to Australian hospitals.
Rather than curing ailments, today the Seppeltsfield Elixir Collection has been crafted to promise you stimulation and enjoyment. Our Elixir Collection comprises of three expressions, graduating from light and fruit-driven, to rich and velvety. Enjoyment is encouraged not only in the traditional post-meal sense, but also as base mixes for cocktails and spritzers.
The Seppeltsfield Elixir Collection – a contemporary conversation for Australian fortified wine, with a distinct recognition of times past.
